Never be sorry about being sentimental! I LOVE this so much. That photo with your (beautiful, perfect, yellow) mug and the magazine open is unreal. Congratulations on this new position—and here's to all that's to come!
Print dreams DO come true. So beyond proud of you and what a trip to hold this gorgeous issue in my hands and see your name over and over again. Amazed by you <3
You have white blazes too. :) I hiked the Appalachian Trail as a solo thru hiker when I turned 50 years old. I especially remember Kent. It seemed too special, too pretty to be hosting us hikers. Congrats on your new position.
Have you written about that experience?? Would love to read. I have not ventured up to the Appalachian Trail section in Connecticut, but I hope to this summer!
I am currently on my way to finishing my first novel, a work of fiction set against the Appalachian Trail. I have written answers to questions on Quora about my 2013 thru-hike that have been very popular. https://www.quora.com/profile/Kim-McCann-Walks-Far/answers I think that when I finish my novel, I will have more space to tell more stories. I have been traveling throughout Latin America since 2016, I think, solely to have the material I need as a writer. Thanks for asking. <3 And yes, please do some of the A.T. May I suggest: bring some Trail Magic for this year's class of hopefuls. They will genuinely appreciate it.
Congratulations!!!! What an exciting opportunity and a dream come true! Yes yes yes, local mags are the best, and print is not dead! I got my freelancing start through a hyper-local magazine, and it's still my favorite to write for.
Congrats on the new gig! Love it!
Thank you, Susan! Me too! :)

The hyper-local mags can honestly be a much better gig than the big names! Thank you, Sara!
