a farewell for now

Hi writer friend,

I started this newsletter over two years ago to build a space where I could write candidly about writing and freelancing. Today I have an opportunity to do just that and admit that I no longer have the time or brain space to continue with One More Question. For now.

If you read OMQ regularly, you probably saw this coming. My family has been through a lot in the last few months. After a rollercoaster stay at the NICU, my daughter is finally home. Now I’m back to working full-time while adjusting to life with a 3-month-old. It’s wonderful and it’s also really hard.

In coming to terms with needing to step away from something I’ve poured so much energy into building, I’ve found an even greater appreciation for what I have here: the freedom and flexibility to walk away.

So that’s what I’m doing. For now. As you all know, life and work can change quickly, especially when you’re a freelancer. Perhaps I will find myself wanting/needing to focus on One More Question again in the future. And I hope I’ll find you back here when/if I do!

For now, if you’re a monthly subscriber, your subscription will be on hold. You will not be charged for additional months unless I start publishing again. If you paid for your subscription up front, I’m happy to gift you with a free year when I return. Hopefully you’ll also find plenty of value in the archives, which aren’t going anywhere. (And returning to older issues of One More Question is a great way to find contact info for editors whose inboxes aren’t completely bonkers right now.)

And since I can’t seem to stop looking at writing opportunities on Twitter (anyone else have that addiction, regardless of whether they have any time for more work?) let’s keep in touch there. I’ll try to keep sharing all the good stuff.

Thank you so much for being here for however long you’ve been reading. Thank you for helping me build something I could run with when it felt right and step away from when needed. I hope you have that, too.
