I did! And missing Portland already. Thankfully, I have some work to do there next month so I have a reason to come back. :)

Welcome back, Britany <3 I think the most courageous thing we can do is return again and again and again. Even if it looks different than before. It takes courage to keep showing up to ourselves and our writing especially as the seasons are changing. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, I am so excited to see where you go from there!

Thank you, Ruthie! There can be so much resistance in the return, but then it feels so good once you're back in it. Doing this right here is a great reminder of that. :) I hope I get to learn about your journey, too!

I'm so glad you are back and sharing important things with us all, at just the right moment too. I think carefully-considered words, and sharing them with others, have never been more important. Many thanks for this piece, I'm looking forward to reading more and waving from our corner of France.

Hi Britany! If I remember correctly, you and I were both travel bloggers doing the solo female travel bit back in the day (roughly 2013-2014?). My blog was TheBarefootBeat. I also had a baby around 2 1/2 years ago and am desperately trying to carve a path for my writing because it's the only thing I want (and need) to keep doing.

I'm so glad you've resurfaced here and look forward to following the journey with you! Cheers to writing and traveling and mama-ing together. 💗

Mariah! Yes we were, and I remember your blog! The writing on top of the motherhood thing is another thick layer of hard. Especially these toddler years omg. We'll have to talk more about that. <3

I would love to meet up in IRL, Mike! Also if you're ever in NYC, let me know! I'm always on the lookout for writing events in nearby cities since there's not so much of that in small-town Connecticut.

This all resonates with me so hard, right down to the editor you’ve been working with getting laid off (hello, Thrillist!) and nearly everything else. Appreciate your approach and perspective and following along for more.
